For my preliminary task I was required to create a school or college magazine which had to include a midshot of a pupil or pupils, an image which I must of taken, title, masthead, strapline and an inside feature.

Firstly in creating I had to do a bit of research about the college and what would attract reader to my college magazine. I started by sketching flat plans of my magazine on paper while doing this thinking about how my layout should look like such as the position of my masthead, what colour as this will be used to catch the reader attention etc and what would suit a college magazine.

Secondly, I had to take pictures to use for my front cover and the content page of my magazine. I decided to take pictures of students from the college with a smile on their faces which would suggest that the students are happy in the college and represent the college as a good atmosphere where students are happy. During the process of taking the pictures I took pictures of students in different positions and different angles to get different effects from different pictures. After taking all the pictures I uploaded them onto a pc and chose the one I thought best matched the layout of the magazine.

Finally, during the process of creating my magazine I had to get familiar with an apple Mac computer which I had never used, eventually I got use to it and used a programme called adobe Photoshop. At first I did not understand how to use this programme but eventually learnt how to use it.
